News: Loud & Local returns with stellar line-up for 2024

Here comes the sun...do do do dooooo - not my words, the words of some band from Liverpool - or so it's supposed to at this time of year anyway. The severe lack of Vitamin D-emitting warmth has been evident in recent weeks; where have you gone ALL POWERFUL FIERY BALL OF JOY?! Hope is not all obscured by rain clouds though, it's also found in festival bills. If the weather doesn't show up then we'll just dance under an umbrella-ella-ella-ella-ey-ey-ey. Also Taylor Swift will be making millions somewhere else by the , so you might as find something new.

I suggest you get down to one of the North West's finest one day festivals; Loud & Local in the glorious city of Chester. Yes it's home turf for me, so there may be some bias here, but they've just returned with an another STELLAR line-up for their 2024 edition. Taking place on August Bank Holiday Sunday at Alexander's, the festival has gained a growing reputation for quality, under the radar acts that will make you forget that you're soaked to the bone.

Headliners for the festival's eighth edition come from the Breakfast Records stable of acts with the anthemic slacker rock of Langkamer and the self-professed 'Post-Brexit Apocalypse Disco' of  Getdown Services. The supporting cast is just as impressive; South Walian party rock from the raucous Dactyl Terra, shimmering indie rock from Kidsmoke and the blistering riffs of local duo Sustinere.

The name may be Loud & Local, but the festival has also been looking further afield for some of it's acts and they have unearthed some gems. Left-field garage rock and NNWNF favourites Torture & The Desert Spiders return for a rare outing in the UK after moving back to the U.S, Large Brush Collection bring their plush, hazy Folk jams all the way from Austin, Texas and Toronto band Pretty will also bring their psych-tinged grooves to the party.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, some dude with a rapidly-greying beard and deluded sense of self worth will be playing some songs between the bands. I heard on the grapevine he's dead good and also really handsome too.
