Podcast: The Partisan Contingent Episode 3

Back once again with the ill behaviour, D for Damager, Power to the People.  That's my way of saying we have a new episode of our (soon to be) award-winning podcast to inform you about. Yeah, Episode 3 of The Partisan Contingent is here and I can't wait for you to wrap you ears around this audio delight.

Fot those of you joining us for the first time: welcome to the madness! Let me answer a question that most bands HATE being asked - Why the name The Partisan Contingent? Well, I just like a good syllable combination; the meter is important y'all. Also, as passionate - often fervent - fans of music, we should unite and take over the means of the production studio before there's some sort of McCarthy-esque Muso purge.

Also, I just like talking out of my behind. Episode 3 is called 'Far too romantic for this band'  - for reasons that will become obvious if you listen to the bloody thing. You can listen on Spotify(above) or Mixcloud (below). You can also listen on RadioPublic too if you like.

So what can you expect from the The Partisan Contingent? I've decided to make a part new music radio show, part interview, part re-occurring playlist Frankenstein's Monster of a Podcast which hopefully will resonate with as many people as possible. It's a grand ambition - some would say foolish - but you've got to have a dream right? They can come true you know, Gabrielle told me in the 90s.

Our guests this time round are G.K, Hannah, Grace, Gabby and Eliza from Leeds Goth Rockers VENUS GRRRLS, who have been recently getting plenty of attention from the likes of a little radio station called Radio 1 - to paraphrase Will Ferrel in Anchorman - it's kind of a big deal.

I had a lovely chin wag with the GRRRLS and we talked about stalking band members, regional differences, their new material, gig ettiquette and of course, they picked their choices for the Apocalypse NOW That's What I Call Music Playlist (see the full playlist at the bottom of the page).

I should also mention (as I do in the recording), that we did talk to singer G.K about her recent battle with Cancer. It's a poignant and ultimately inspiring story that she tells but at times mentions talk of treatment, so please take this as a trigger warning if you feel like it might be difficult for you to listen to.

Music comes from Two Man Giant Squid, Problem Patterns, Tonguetied and O. We also play another round of Jib off the Middleman - a trawl through the emails to play a song completely at random by a band or artist without the luxury of P.R support. This month we have some frantic Post Hardcore from The Wurmen.

Be Part of The Partisan.

  1. Ey up! Much appreciation for the play and shout out. You were right about the name and pronunciation, Dave our drummer works in a wormery, breeds worms for fertiliser, we use the warehouse for band practice so we wanted to incorporate that some how. Enter The Würmen. ✌️ great podcast, thanks again.
