News: mclusky return with first new material in 19 years

Legendary Punks mclusky have today announced their first material in 19 years, with a - as yet untitled - new album to follow in 2024. The band split up in 2004 in acrimonious circumstances with frontman Andrew Falkous going on to form Future of the Left with drummer Jack Egglestone and former Jarcrew frontman Kelson; more recently he has been releasing solo material under the guise of  Christian Fitness. Announcing the new material with his usual sardonic wit, Falkous (aka Falco) released this statement to coincide with the band's new songs:

people-persons-guys-girls-australians...

here are four mclusky songs, newly recorded and flattened into shape - the first release since 2004 (you can use the calculator on your phone to find out that's nineteen years, which is the lifecycle of four haircuts). the first two songs, 'unpopular parts of a pig' and 'the digger you deep' should make the album we are releasing next year (we're hopefully finishing up recording in february). anyway, medium story short, we're hoping to rearrange our US dates for march of next year and need to raise money for visas, hence this here, now, at this price.

If it's a bit steep for you at the moment, drop me a message and we'll figure something out.

ave and all that shit

falco

mclusky released three studio albums that have gone on to provide direct influence to some of the UK's current crop of punks: My Pain and Sadness is More Sad and Painful Than Yours (2000), mclusky do Dallas (2002) and The Only Difference Between You and Me is I'm Not on Fire (2004). From 2002, the band worked with celebrated producer Steve Albini, who brought out the ferocity of the songs with his unique production techniques. A comprehensive compilation of singles, b-sides, c-sides and raritities Mcluskyism was released after they split in 2006.

The name of this blog is a mclusky song title in case you didn't know already. Take a listen to the new material at the Bandcamp link below
