The summer is nearly done and dusted for another year, but Niamh Rowley isn't letting that get her down. With the help of new single from The Velvet Hands, she's reliving it time and time again. Niamh telles us more about the London indie rockers and why 'Meet Me In The City' might just be the song of the year.

Calling out to the lovers of all things' music! We have a bundle of excitement to wade through here from tours to albums and music videos; there’s no shortage of content to unpack . So, join me as I introduce you to what could possibly just be your new favourite obsession. Originally hailing from Cornwall before heading over to make a breakthrough in the London scene, The Velvet Hands are beginning to turn more than a few heads.

Having dropped their second album sucker punch in February this year, The Velvet Hands aimed to please. It saw them successfully rocket their way onto festival lineups such as Truck Festival, headlining the ‘This Feeling’ tent as well at the Great Estate Festival in amongst a run of shows across the Uk headlining and supporting. Working tirelessly to create the best possible music and create the most enthusiastic atmosphere for their shows and fans, it’s only right to take a deeper look at the material.

Creating a fun filled video for their current single ‘Meet Me in the City’ which dropped just a couple weeks ago, inevitably creating a wave of buzz in time for their announcement. They shared how they’re set to release an extended cut of their album sucker punch on November 3rd

Well, onwards we go to the song itself, I find it to be genuinely quite unique and full of life. Whilst carrying a similar edgy guitar beat known and loved closely by anyone in the indie crowd, it still has its own individualism, I find myself immediately keen and engaging with it. Providing catchy lyrics and punchy vocals, the need to dance immediately takes over. Having a bouncy guitar line and a movement provoking drum included throughout allows it to all blend so seamlessly into the vocals surrounding it, you can see why it’s set to be a definite crowd pleaser.

The way these lads so evidently love making and performing music together shines through effortlessly in this song. I would even go as far as saying it’s up there as a song of the summer. So, if it’s not already, get it in your playlists and stream it endlessly!

Filming the video on top of a yellow American school bus turned bar by 8 track rum during its visit to Great Estate Festival. With the retro-style camera shooting you can’t help but smile. It’s reminiscent of a stereotypical summer you dream of with your friends. No more exams, hanging out at festivals in the sun, a couple cans on the go whilst seeing the people you idolise the most performing in front of you. Sounds perfect, no? I found myself shamelessly living vicariously through the footage.

With the boys preparing for a nine-day run of UK shows throughout November making stops in all the major cities including the likes of Manchester, Liverpool and Cardiff. I highly recommend finding out if they’re playing a city near you and if so, go support! There’s truly nothing more exciting than seeing grassroots music on the ladder to the big leagues. I for one can say I'll be in the front row cheering them on, why not join me?
