News: Beyond the Walls Festival announces eclectic line-up for 2023 edition

The  Beyond the Walls festival has announced it's return to Alexander's in Chester - set around the majestic Roman walls - for it's annual installment of festival merriment. The event takes place on Bank Holiday Sunday 28th May and to coincide with the announcement of the date, organisers have announced the first draft of bands and artists that will make up the bill - and what a line-up!

2023’s headliner is none other than “sensei of the slow jams” himself, Brad Stank. The self styled “sexistentialist-pop bohemian” will perform his sultry psych-jazz, drawing the Garden Stage to a close in the evening. Set for SXSW this March, Stank is beginning to win hearts the world over with his idiosyncratic style, and the Liverpool-based crooner looks set to be the ideal act to end the day's outdoor activities.

Nine-piece art-pop collective Mandrake Handshake will also bring their blend of krautrock, funk and psychedelic poetry to proceedings - if they can all fit on the stage! The band make an incredibly beautiful racket and come with a fierce live reputation to boot. See the video below.

They will be joined by electro-pop powerhouse Ani Glass from Cardiff, Manchester's incendiary post-punk trio YAANG and psych-garage Scouser Ali Horn. Plus,
many of those making waves across Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales will perform, such as:
SPILT, Tits Up, Salt The Snail, Hazmat, Torture and the Desert Spiders and many more.

If that wasn't enough, DJs will be playing between bands to ensure the party keeps going - if you look closely you might even recognise one of them - but don't let that put you off.

The full bill at the moment is as follows:

BRAD STANK // MANDRAKE HANDSHAKE // ANI GLASS // SPILT // YAANG //
SALT THE SNAIL // TORTURE AND THE DESERT SPIDERS // ALI HORN //
HAZMAT // TITS UP // MEILIR // BROKEN DOWN GOLF CART // THE MOSSLEY
